"As part of their clergy / parish transition process to call a settled priest, congregations in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington currently without a rector are obliged to enter into a multi-step search process to identify the character, norms, lay ministries, worship styles, faithful financial practices, and how such congregations bless their community that lives outside the church doors.
St. Christopher's is currently undergoing the process as we seek to build an honest profile that incorporates or illustrates the elements above that define us. On August 31, the gathered church will participate in small group sessions as part of the special worship service to "examine ourselves" as we begin in earnest to build a profile of our parish. (2 Corinthians 13:5) Following this special service the church will continue over the course of the summer and into fall to undergo a brief series of self-examination opportunities that will help us provide a clear picture of our parish in preparation for seeking a priest; we will alter between in-person sessions and written surveys.
"ALL PARISH MEMBERS are strongly encouraged to participate in these sessions because without your full input and involvement we will be incomplete in our data for building our profile, which could impair our search. Please contact Jo Mimms, Junior Warden/Acting Senior Warden, at jrwarden@stchrispgc.org or via phone/text at 240-432-9634 should you have any questions. If you are ill or traveling and therefore not available to be in-person for August 31 or any other succeeding in-person session, please contact the Warden so that you can send your responses by email.
Thank you in advance for being a part of this critical effort. May God bless our efforts!"
